Suggestion:

Playback control functionality on DVD (players).
Loathe sections of DVDs that can't be fast-forwarded ("Operation prohibited by disc."), typically copyright notices. This means we're back to "valve radio-like" days, having to warm-up the equipment for 5 minutes before settling down to use it.

Lack of convenient "picture search" on DVDs. i.e. ONE button press for 9x search. My Toshiba demands four presses to select a suitable speed.

Where a DVD has Chapters, reverse picture search won't pass back before the beginning of a chapter, into the end of the previous. This makes it difficult to review a film's end credits directly.

As my brats wih mobile phones gripe has already been stated I'd like to put another gripe... Widescreen TVs ...in the wrong aspect ratio. In shops, pubs, wherever you go and with broadcasters in archive shows, widescreen TVs are almost always set in the wrong aspect ratio for old 4:3 material, either the picture is blown up to fill the entire screen, lopping off the top and bottom of the screen or worse, stretching the picture to fill the screen so the striker bearing down on goal looks about 23 stone and is about to kick a rugby ball into a 40ft wide goal, unless he falls over whereupon he suddenly loses half his weight and suddenly becomes 8ft tall! I'm at the point where if I'm in a shop where the remote is next to the TV, I'll change the settings, it bugs me that much!

Kids playing music through the speakers on their mobile phone in public so that everyone can hear it. They put a free headset in there for a reason, you muppets! The fact that they play the absolute worst music you can imagine (hardcore house where I live) is exactly what you'd expect.

The amount of a tv programme (especially reality TV like wifeswap etc.) that is repeated: heres whats coming up on todays show, heres whats happened in the first half, here whats still to come in the second half, break, heres whats happened in the first half (again), heres whats still to come in the second half (again) then at the end a recap of the whole show. It's amazing how you can fit 10 minutes of TV into 30 minutes.

Also telephone voice mail sytems. In particular you call, say, xyz insurance company. A nice 'live' human answers promptly and in response to your enquiry says, "i extend your call to Ms/Mr. ABC. Click ........... "This is ABC i am not available to take your call right now ...... etc.". So I HANG UP; no point doing business with them!
Then darn (or something stronger)why didn't the telephone receptionist 'know' that the ABC party wasn't available! Grrrr.

The thing that really annoys me about today's modern technology. Mobile phones, or if I'm being technical correct - mobiles. Yes the device formerly known as the mobile phone really is starting to bug me. These devices try to be a "jack of all trades" including things like cameras, MP3 players and VOIP. All off these additional features are mediocre at best ... and the worst of the lot: MP3 Playback. Sitting on public transport and hearing people play dreadful dance music on the morning through those dreadfully tinny speakers really do annoy me. Where is the respect for others? I want to travel in peace, not listen to someone else's music. People should be barred from playing music from devices like these on public transport.

Websites that require you to register to view content.

Unnecessary use of modern technology, for example, a train with an LED display with a list of stations where it stops which uses an embedded GPS system which then packs up halfway down the line, and all it would need is a button for the guard to press to tell it when it stops at a station. :(

1) Companies that have 'Contact us' and thhen; either the link to their email won't work or they require you to 'log on' or become a member! Bah humbug.
2) Companies where their email seems to work, sometimes you even get an automated reply and then they never answer your enquiry!

Needless to say neither of the above get my business. So they've wasted their cost and afort of having a web site/email facilities?
