Cobra Pubcast and pork scratchings

Posted on 4 August 2008 By FrequencyCast 1 Comment on Cobra Pubcast and pork scratchings

Always on the lookout for new podcast experiences, we’ve stumbled upon the Cobra Podcast.

Trigger Happy‘s Dom Joly, and Citizens Required’s Danny Wallace meet up with a guest personality-type person and chat about, well, nothing in particular.

Guest patrons so far have included The Office’s Mackenzie Crook, Iain Lee (Lost Podcast) and Rob Deering.

Pubcasts last about 15 minutes, and pop up every couple of weeks. Heavily sponsored by Cobra Beer, the Cobra Marketing Man pops up to push the product in each show (voiced, we think, by a chap called Alan Bell).

The resident FrequencyCast cynic’s convinced that Cobra’s paid Dom and Dan to try to replicate the success of the Ricky Gervais podcasts… but, hey, it works… it’s climbing the podcast charts, and it’s a damn funny listen.

if i went into work one day and declared that i would work for free i be seen as a loon so i dont see why wanting to be paid for your work is seen in such a bad light!
if the product is good enough i am happy listen to (or watch) short and or interesting ads that help what i enjoy listening to (viewing) keep aflote or maybe god forbid even make a profit!
    cheers!!
