Kit Curran on DVD

Posted on 18 August 2008 By FrequencyCast 3 Comments on Kit Curran on DVD

Kit Curran PictureNo, sadly not an announcement that you can now get Kit Curran on DVD… this is a plea…

The Kit Curran Radio Show was a TV series aired on Channel 4 in 1984. The series was produced by Thames TV in London, and featured the exploits of local radio presenter Kit Curran, played by Denis Lawson.

Kit was a high-profile on-air personality, with a hugely inflated ego. Kit, together with Tech Op Les Tomms and newsreader Damien Appleby lived on the airwaves of Radio Newtown, under the auspices of Station Manager Roland Simpson, played by Brian Wilde (Last of the Summer Wine).

As far as I know, the series was only repeated once, in 1986, to mark the start of a second series, no longer at Radio Newtown.

Considering the drivel released on DVD, it amazes me that this series hasn’t yet made it to DVD, or even an on-demand series.

Anyone else out there remember this series and want to see it again? Or even better, got a copy we could borrow? If we get enough interest, this may even be something we campaign about – letters to Thames TV, Channel 4, our Euro MEP?

Leave us a comment if you’re a closet Kit Curran Craver…

What a fantastic idea.. I used to love Kit Curran (that newsreader was the grumpiest man I’d ever seen) although, having watched some shows again 20 years on, they’re something of a disappointment compared to the first time I saw them (remember Metal Mickey? When I was seven, it was the funniest programme I’d ever seen!)

Shame there’s nothing decent on YouTube to help me recall..
