Save GMT - Greenwich Mean Time

To correct differences between the rotation of the earth and atomic clocks, sine 1972, "leap seconds" have been added.

The International Telecommunications Union has proposed that the "leap second" is abolished - this will de-couple timekeeping from the earth's rotation, and from the position of the sun. Instead, they propose a leap-hour ever 600 years.
