Unofficial Amazon Kindle Audio Guide

Posted on 13 September 201026 September 2010 By FrequencyCast 4 Comments on Unofficial Amazon Kindle Audio Guide

Kindle Review ImageAs a follow-up to our “first look” at Amazon’s Kindle in FrequencyCast Show 55, Pete and Carl are proud to present a full 25 minute review of the Kindle, as one of our series of “Unofficial Guides”

In our Kindle UK Review, we look at how to download a book, explore some of the more advanced features of the Kindle, look at what’s on offer, and answer questions on how suitable the Kindle is for the blind reader, and what the built-in Kindle web browser is capable of.

As ever, our review is free, and we’d love you to have a listen. If you have any questions about the UK Kindle, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to help.

Our Unofficial Guide to the Kindle is attached to this blog post, or available from www.frequencycast.co.uk/kindleguide.html

For more on the Kindle, please see our updated Amazon Kindle Feature page.

I have a Kindle on order since Sept 2nd (What’s going on Amazon!) and so your excellent guide has been really useful and of course I shall save it until the great days comes when my Kindle is delivered.
Thanks again for the hard work which I know has gone into producing your Kindle feature.

Loved the review. I managed to get gmail to work without any problems though. It renders pretty well on the screen. I couldn’t log on initially at the ‘gmail’ screen when I went direct to it but when I went to the igoogle site and logged onto my account there. I can’t promise it’s an effective workaround as I have no idea why it wouldn’t work in one way and it could well have been completely random. I have no technical knowledge whatsoever!

I have had my Kindle for a couple of weeks now and absolutely adore it and I hadn’t worked out you could search wikipedia direct from the text until I listened :)
    Thanks for covering it!

I’ve got a Kindle 3 and just want to let you know a couple of things.

You can access Gmail (Well I can) I can access both my basic Gmail and my Google Apps Gmail acocunts

one problem is clicking links in Gmail (It wants to open the link as a separate page/tab which this basic browser does not support.)
I can’t find a way to copy links to paste manually but hopefully their may be an update.

Amazon is about to release a 2nd patch for the Kindle3 that has a few performance tweeks for page turning and browser. (V3.0.2)
